The controversy around Violent Video Games Effect On Children continues to be at an all time high. The top selling games are non other than the violent ones, and it seems that these are the games that interest our children the most. Many parents may not fully understand the effects it can have on their child, if a child plays games that have intense violence, sexual content, use of drugs and lots of blood, it will undoubtedly have a major effect on them.Experimental research has proven that playing violent video games produces higher levels of aggressive behaviors, but this is usually only the case for children since they are not mature enough to handle such content. The U.S. Supreme court recently striked down a ban on violent games, they basically felt as though video games should have their rights and there should not be any regulations against them. I can completely understand why they made that choice, there are so many people that play video games from all different ages, so why should it be banned for those that can handle the violence?

This is where parents have to come into place, we must have control over what games we are allowing our children to play. A child would never be allowed to purchase a game that has violence or sexual content because these games are always labeled as Mature. So it really is the responsibility of parents to never buy these games no matter how much your child begs and pleads, and to also make sure they are not borrowing these type of games from friends either. Now there is nothing that can be when your child is not always in your sight, but it is important to have a talk with your child explaining to them why you do not want them playing these type of games, and hopefully your child will have enough trust in what your saying to not even play them when your not around.
